Emergency Drain Procedure

Safety First:

  • Unplug the washing machine from electrical outlet
  • Turn off water supply valves
  • Have towels and bucket ready for water spillage
  • Wear rubber gloves for protection

Step-by-Step Manual Drainage

  1. Power Off: Unplug the washing machine from the electrical outlet to ensure safety.
  2. Locate Drain Hose: Find the drain hose at the back of the machine. It's usually connected to a standpipe or laundry sink.
  3. Prepare for Water: Place a shallow pan or bucket under the drain hose connection point to catch water.
  4. Disconnect Drain Hose: Carefully loosen the clamp and disconnect the drain hose from the standpipe or sink.
  5. Lower Drain Hose: Lower the drain hose into your bucket or pan. Ensure the end is lower than the washing machine.
  6. Open Filter Access: Locate the emergency drain tube or filter access panel (usually at the front bottom of the machine).
  7. Slowly Release Water: Open the drain cap or pull the emergency drain tube to allow water to flow out slowly.
  8. Clean Filter: Once water is drained, clean the drain pump filter of any debris or objects.
Warning: Never force the drain cap open. If resistance is felt, contact Samsung service. Water may be hot if a hot wash cycle was running.

Prevention Tips

Regular Maintenance

Clean the drain pump filter every 2-3 months to prevent clogs and ensure proper drainage. Regular maintenance reduces emergency drain situations.

Proper Loading

Avoid overloading the washer and ensure pockets are empty of small objects that can clog the drain system. Follow manufacturer's load recommendations.

Correct Detergent Use

Use high-efficiency (HE) detergent only and measure carefully. Excess detergent can create suds that interfere with proper draining.

Drain Hose Care

Ensure the drain hose is not kinked or bent sharply. Maintain proper height (typically 36-60 inches from floor) for optimal drainage performance.

Monthly Cleaning Cycle

Run a cleaning cycle monthly using washer cleaner or vinegar to remove residue and prevent buildup in the drain system.

Inspect Regularly

Periodically check drain hose for cracks or damage. Replace if necessary to prevent leaks and drainage issues.
